Must I be bitter about my cucumbers? Can you help me out of this pickle?

A:

Bitterness in cucumbers – and in zucchini, too – is related to water stress. The plant ran short of water while the fruit was developing. Sometimes, the bitterness permeates the entire fruit. The key to avoiding the bitterness, is to maintain an evenly moist root zone.
