Klamath County Research Station

Our Agricultural research focuses on practices that enhance sustainable production of agricultural crops and protection of soil and water resources.  Faculty at (KBREC) conduct  research on nearly all field and forage crops grown in the Klamath Basin.

Identifying new and superior varieties of potatoes, small grains, and forages is conducted in cooperation with plant breeders and geneticists at OSU, USDA-ARS, and other cooperating universities throughout the United States.  Alternative forages are currently being evaluated to optimize performance under Klamath Basin climatic conditions.

In addition to variety development, researchers seek ways to improve efficiencies in areas such as: cultural management, integrated pest management, irrigation, and soil productivity.
