2019 Summer-Fall Food Preservation classes announced!
Fermentation Fun~ August 13; 5:30-8pm. Take the fear out of fermentation and learn what is safe and what is not. Topics to be covered include basic sauerkraut making, Kimchi, Kombucha, yogurt, and sour dough starter. The workshop will include hands on sauerkraut making as well as lots of sampling of fermented foods and dishes. Class includes handouts, snacks and jar of sauerkraut to ferment at home. Cost $35. Salsa! It’s not just a dance craze! ~ September 14; 10am-2pm. Learn to can, dry and freeze tomatoes, as well as making salsa, sauce and catsup. Some hands-on learning and sampling of products made with home canned, dried and frozen tomato products. Cost $35. Location: Community of Christ Church 1485 Gilham Rd, Eugene Register
Canning Meat ~ October 5; 10am-2pm. Take the fear out of pressure canning and learn to can your own meat, soups, veggies and dried beans. Class will include some hands on practice canning and using the pressure canner. Included will be ideas for using home canned foods to make quick and easy meals. Cost $35.
