Master Woodland Manager Training - Lane County

Thu, Sep 6, 2018 - Thu, Dec 20, 2018 (All Day)
Event Cost
$75 per person. $100 for two people sharing hand-outs and materials from the same household

Skill building

Are you interested in how your lands can better suit wildlife, timber production, or recreation? Do you want to make sure your forest is resilient to fire, insects or disease? Are you interested in making sure your roads are well-built, that you are prepared for conducting logging or other operations, and that you file your taxes correctly?

Master Woodland Manager (MWM) shows you how to assess your woodland property by understanding local ecological factors (soils, historical land use, tree and plant species and associated wildlife) as well as how to conduct assessments to determine where your woodland is heading as it grows over time. You will also learn how various management activities will help you meet your long term vision for the property.

Service

After taking the MWM program, volunteers are expected to provide 60 hours of volunteer service, which is done in many different manners, depending on your interests and strengths.

Stewardship

MWM volunteers represent a 25 year stewardship legacy, and include a wide array of people and woodlands throughout Oregon. Whether you own 5 or 1,000 acres, the MWM community will help you gain skills for tending your woodland, and provide you with opportunities to share your passion for stewardship.
