The Pantry Food Heroes program relies on volunteers to connect food pantry patrons with recipes and new ideas for cooking healthy meals.

Prior to the program coming to a halt in 2020, our program supported over 40 volunteers in 30 pantries throughout Lane County. While COVID limited volunteer access to food pantries and altered the layout of shopping style for many pantries in Lane County, it did not decrease the need for food access in our community.

The Pantry Food Heroes Program allows volunteers to connect with the communities that are closest to them. Volunteers can choose to work alongside the community, preparing Food Hero recipes at home and then giving out samples in their local food pantry. Other volunteers prefer the behind the scenes work of dividing recipe ingredients and preparing boxes to be picked up for tasting events. Volunteering with the Pantry Food Heroes Program provides schedule flexibility and a once a month commitment.

Contact Ashleigh Wajtyna for more information and to sign up. Sign up by June 6.
