Poplar Farm Harvesting Workshop
29689 Awbrey Lane
Eugene, OR 97402
The Eugene/Springfield Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission (MWMC) invites you to attend an open house at the MWMC’s 400-acre Biocycle Farm hybrid poplar tree plantation for an afternoon workshop.
The afternoon workshop will demonstrate the poplar planting, growing, and maintenance aspects of the farm. The workshop will include a tour the 116-acre rotation of harvest-age trees scheduled for harvest within the next two years. The workshop will provide examples of logging and milling experience and opportunities to obtain saw logs to test mill on your own equipment. Poplar cuttings for growing your own poplar will be available in small quantities.
The MWMC is seeking broad interest in logging and harvest services that can match efficiency and innovation with target markets for wood chips, veneer, millwork, and beyond. Learn about the environmental benefits of poplar trees, growing and harvest considerations, and the long-term cycle and sustainability of the Biocycle Farm operations.
Who should attend: loggers, wood product processors, forestry services, landscaping services, arborists, stump removers, herbicide treatment applicators, agricultural operators, farmers, millers, wood chip and saw log buyers, biomass innovators, sustainability interests, growers, hardwood users and manufacturers, and anyone interested in the Biocycle Farm!
