Vegetable gardeners know that thriving gardens start from the ground up. Join the Multnomah County Master Gardener Association’s Speaker Series on Tuesday, March 10, at 7 PM, for an engaging presentation as farmer and educator Jen Aron shares lessons learned from ten years of managing Blue Raven Farm with a soil-first, production-second approach.
Over the past decade, this soil-first approach has led to countless lessons, some hard-won, others deeply rewarding. Jen will share the story of Blue Raven Farm, offering a candid narrative of its evolution, including the many trials, tribulations, and breakthroughs along the way. As the farm enters its tenth year, there is a wealth of experience and insight to share.
Jen’s presentation will also focus on key elements for gardeners to consider, with particular attention to how soil management, microbiology, and mineral balance influence every aspect of farms and gardens alike. Gardeners will come away with a deeper understanding of their soil and new ways to support healthy, thriving plants by working with the living system beneath their feet
