OSU Extension foresters honored with national ANREP awards

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Faculty in the Oregon State University Extension Service’s Forestry and Natural Resources Program (FNR) have been honored with national awards from the Association of Natural Resources and Extension Professionals.

Bees in the Woods” received the gold award in the TV/Video category. This video series offers information on enhancing pollinator habitat on small private forest properties. Contributors to the series include: Lauren Grand (FNR), Brad Withrow-Robinson (FNR), Jacob Putney (FNR), Stephen Fitzgerald (FNR), Hayley Brazier of the High Desert Museum and Pat McAbery of Sight and Sound Services.

The gold award for the e-newsletter category went to “Canopy View News,” targeted at forest enthusiasts in Lane and Douglas counties. Authors of the e-newsletter include: Alicia Christiansen (FNR) and Lauren Grand (FNR).

The long publication silver award was awarded to Introduction to Forest Carbon, Offsets and Markets. This publication introduces readers to forest carbon, carbon offsets, projects, and markets. It is intended to orient forest owners, land managers, natural resource professionals, and others to forest carbon and carbon market terminology and processes, as well as resources for assistance and getting started.

Authors and contributors include: Jacob Putney (FNR), Norma Kline (FNR), Stephen Fitzgerald (FNR), Lauren Grand (FNR), Chris Schnepf and Greg Latta of the University of Idaho, Patrick Shults of Washington State University and John Rizza, formerly of OSU.

The Association of Natural Resources and Extension Professionals is a national association for Cooperative Extension Service professionals working in environmental education, fisheries, forestry, wood sciences, range, recreation, waste management, water, wildlife, energy and related disciplines.
