Food Pantry Project New Volunteer Training
996 Jefferson Street
Eugene, OR 97402
Foodies wanted!! If you love to cook and would like to make a difference in someone’s day, we have a fun volunteer spot for you. The Nutrition Education Program of Lane County Extension and Food for Lane County have teamed up to provide food guidance and recipes for all Lane County food pantries. It’s called the Food Pantry Project. Volunteers make this program a great success!
Training privileges include:
- Practical learning about food safety and pantry shopper etiquette.
- Preparation of Quick and Healthy Food Hero recipes. Volunteers will share samples and provide nutrition education at Food for Lane County emergency food pantries.
- Preparation of the ingredients for recipe food boxes and organize items for supply boxes.
- Help with programming and organizational tasks.
We have recently lost some long-term volunteers who retired from our program. If you’ve been contemplating volunteering for the Food Pantry Project, this is a great time to join! If interested, please contact Shirley McSilvers (https://extension.oregonstate.edu/people/shirley-mcsilvers).
