Michelle coordinates two distinct local programs with interesting crossover: the Wasco County Master Gardener Program and the Columbia River Gorge Master Naturalist Program. Both are volunteer training programs with sustainability in mind - one through the lens of gardening and one through land stewardship in a broader sense. Michelle has an M.S in Leadership for Sustainability Education from Portland State University, and a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley. She was a PreK-8 educator from 2008 until 2015, when she started her position at OSU Extension. Teaching and research interests include: vegetable gardening; integrated pest management, native plant gardening; Permaculture; school gardens; and Oregon White Oak and grassland systems.
