Getting tree seedlings into the ground is simple: green side up, brown side down. The most important work comes beforehand with proper care and choosing a site that has lots of sunshine, good drainage and room to grow.
Trees all over Oregon are displaying signs of poor health. People are quick to blame insects, but insects are rarely the underlying cause of the problem. Drought and other stressors can make trees vulnerable to pests and disease.
This article briefly discusses the most prevalent madrone disease problems, then offers a broader perspective on the health of this southern Oregon native.
