Q: The straw mulch I used at the end of summer to suppress the weeds doesn't seem to be working. Should I till it and cover with plastic? black or clear? Is there something better. Or should I add more straw. I could probably bring some cardboard home from work. Is this a healthy option?

This publication discusses the use of granular matrix sensors (GMS) for monitoring soil moisture content. It explains how to install GMS and use the recorded data for irrigation scheduling.
PAM is a synthetic water-soluble polymer composed of molecules of acrylamide. PAM binds soil particles together, causing them to settle out and not be carried away in runoff water. This prevents soil loss and can improve water...

Irrigating pastures can provide livestock with nutrition long into summer. Learn to monitor soil moisture to determine when to irrigate and how much water to apply.
This publication discusses irrigation scheduling of potatoes using crop evapotranspiration and/or soil water tension.
Several types of caneberries are produced commercially in Oregon, including summer-bearing and primo cane fruiting red raspberries, black raspberries (blackcaps), and blackberries. This publication addresses nutrient assessment and application...
