This class is designed to help landowners determine the first steps in deciding what to do with their property and to learn about options for starting a small farm business on the property. For all rural land owners and aspiring farmers, we’ll cover basic information such as how to determine soil type and how to understand Oregon Water Rights, including how to get new rights.  Learn how to navigate land use regulations. Gain an understanding of how to maintain your special tax assessment (often incorrectly called "EFU" status) and other assessments. Determine what other rights you may have and how to maintain those rights. Examine what to consider when choosing an enterprise or business structure.

Speakers include Jeff Lyons, Jackson County Farm Assessor; Shavon Hayes, Jackson County Watermaster; Maud Powell, OSU Extension Small Farms; and Angela Boudro, OSU Extension Small Farms and Holistic Management Certified Educator
