Program: Forest Home Woodlands: An Oregon Story of Forest and Family Succession

Mark Shibley will share his experience with forest and family succession in Springwater, Oregon, putting that biography in historical context, and highlighting some challenges to keeping forest land in the family over generations.  

Speaker: Mark is Professor of Sociology Southern Oregon University, 5th generation Oregonian, and OSU Master Woodland Manager.  Mark grew up working and playing on the family farm and forest in the Cascade foothills southeast of Portland on land was homesteaded by his ancestors in the 1860s, and along with many other relatives, he now has a hand in managing that land with future generations in mind.
