MINISERIES: Day 3, Freezing + Dehydrating
Freezing is a quick and convenient way to preserve fruits, vegetables, meat, well almost anything at home and is probably the most popular method of home food preservation. This class will teach you how prepare and package your foods to get best results from foods you freeze.
We will also talk about dehydration as a proven technique for preserving food. You can dehydrate fresh or frozen fruits and vegetable, make your own jerky, even dehydrate entire meals that you can take along while backpacking.
This class will begin with a brief discussion on food safety and the preserving equipment we will be using. There will be time for tastings and for answering questions.
What to bring with you: Everyone needs a pen or pencil and note paper. Our lunch break is only 30 minutes so bring your lunch too.
