In this presentation, Stan Dean will share his experiences of managing 160 acres of oak woodland with the goal of preserving good habitat for plants and animals. Stan will teach the class from the perspective on an amateur naturalist. Topics will include: variation in habitat configurations with respect to density, age class, and types of oak (black, white, Brewer’s). He will discuss the associations of oaks with other species of trees, shrubs and grasses, wildlife, mistletoe, and his management strategies to reach his goals of habitat improvement. The presentation will include many photos.
