This class will offer a brief history of the Oregon Water Resources Department (OWRD) and will cover water rights (surface and ground water), seniority, irrigation seasons, the Water Availability Model, quantifying the resource, and funding options through the OWRD. We will discuss sources for collecting water, as well as permissible collection rates, locations for applying it, and the length of the water season. Other topics will include: parts and application of a water right, whom to contact to modify a water right, some conservation options (such as instream leasing), and resources that are used to manage water use during distribution.
