Mushrooms Oregon Harvest for Schools

Mushrooms
Farmers grow them indoors in Oregon.
You can eat them at home and in school.
Mushrooms - food that is fun to explore
and delicious to eat!
Mushrooms are different than most crops
that are grown in Oregon and that is
because mushrooms do not need sunlight
to grow like others green leafed
vegetables and fruits.
Mushrooms are grown indoors all year
long. Mushrooms reproduce by spores.
These spores are so small you cannot see them
with your own eyes.
Farmers mix tiny spores in soil and they
grow and grow into delicious mushrooms
for us to eat.
