Guide and Outfitter Recognized Professional Certification

Transcript

[Music] GORP is an acronym for Guide and Outfitter Recognized Professional, and it's a training and certification program for professional guides. It is a blended program, meaning it has online components and in-person components. The relatively new International Guide Standard on best practices was something that most people hadn't been aware of, so this training program helps people understand what the international adventure guide industry considers best practices and allows people to better connect with international markets as well as state and U.S. markets.

So far, the impact of the GORP program has been reflected in the testimonials from the guides who have gone through the program. They addressed that it has added to their ability to serve their guests. The guides that take the training and get the certification are able to be recognized for their knowledge. So if they have a lot of experience and knowledge about the coast, knowledge about what they're doing, this is a way that they can stand out from the thousands of guides that are out there. The Oregon Coast Visitor Association supported this program, and we developed a blended course to address the workforce needs. [Music]
