What Is 4-H?

4-H is the youth education program of Oregon State University Extension Service. It is a non-formal, community focused, experiential education program for today’s youth.  The program combines the cooperative efforts of youth and adult volunteers with community and Extension resources. The mission of the 4-H program is to help young people build competence, confidence, connection, compassion and character as they learn and grow.

The Marion County 4-H program reaches more than 3,000 young people in our communities each year through their involvement in clubs, after-school programs, camps, and school based programs.

Our most popular program for youth is our 4-H club experience. Youth ages 5-8 Cloverbuds and 9-19 can join a club in a wide variety of project areas.

We couldn’t reach all of these youth each year without the help of our volunteers! Do you have what it takes to become a 4-H volunteer? Check it out!
