Umatilla County 4-H

4-H is a learn-by-doing program for youth, using hands-on educational projects to teach life skills to young people.

Cloverbuds (K-3)

For youth in grades K-3, the program is designed to meet the development characteristics of young children. It emphasizes cooperative learning and excludes competitive events; activity based not project based learning. Due to liability issues, Cloverbuds are not allowed to participate in animal projects.

Grades 4-12

Youth in grades 4-12 belong to clubs led by volunteer leaders and take part in club activities such as community service, educational tours, and fun events. In addition to club activities, there is a wide variety of enrichment activities offered at the county, state, national and international levels.

4-H helps young people discover and develop life skills and set personal goals. Involvement in project areas gives members the help needed to improve specific skills and explore new ones. Activities within clubs also introduce members to the importance of helping others through community service.

4-H involves its members in several different projects, depending on interests and hobbies.  Possible projects include foods, livestock, clothing, small animals, leadership, and photography. Click here for more information on 4-H projects in Umatilla County.

Adult Volunteers

Volunteers are essential to the 4-H program by sharing their resources and knowledge with our youth. The amount of time a 4-H volunteer invests can vary, depending on the role and involvement of each volunteer. Volunteers also develop new leadership skills, meet new friends, and have great adventures.

4-H are you into it

4-H is open to all people without regard to race, color, sex, disability, religion, or national origin.
