Biography
Em Cheramie is the Outreach Program Coordinator for 4-H Youth Development in Curry County. Em wants all youth to have access to the world around them whether that's sports, 4-H, food, housing, quality education, or healthcare. Their work is rooted in equity, inclusion, and creating spaces where everyone belongs. Helping youth explore the world around them and asking all the questions they have about it is a critical part of Em's role.
Growing up in Central Kentucky, they were a member of the Scott County 4-H shooting sports club for nine years. Through 4-H shooting sports, Em found precision rifle which they went on to compete in at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. At UNL they were a five-year letter winner, three time All-American, and smallbore conference champion. Em earned their Bachelor's in English with minors in Art, Math, and Women & Gender Studies. After their time at UNL, they attended the University of Massachusetts-Amherst earning their Master of Science in Sport Management.
Before joining OSU Extension, Em worked at Wake Forest University doing student, staff, and faculty development with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. While living in North Carolina, they were a volunteer coach for the Davis County 4-H shooting sports club.
When they're not in the office or at the range, you can usually find Em running around in the woods, lost in a good book, volunteering in their community, or creating a new piece of art.
