OSU Extension forestry publications earn national honors

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Faculty in the Oregon State University Extension Service’s Forestry and Natural Resources Program received national recognition from the Association of Natural Resources and Extension Professionals for two publications focused on wildfire adaptation and fire.

Community engagement in fire preparedness: It’s how that matters received the gold award in the long publication category. The publication focuses on how community engagement approaches can strengthen wildfire adaptation efforts and improve outcomes for residents, landowners and practitioners.

Authors and contributors include Carrie Berger, Emily Jane Davis, Kayla Bordelon, Yasmeen Hossain, Manuel Machado and Christina Friehauf of Bold Ampersand.

The silver award in the long publication category went to Not all flame’s the same. The publication explores differences in fire behavior and effects, helping readers better understand how fire interacts with landscapes and management strategies.

This marks the third consecutive year that OSU Extension has received national ANREP recognition for its educational materials, underscoring the strong national reputation of its communications and publication work.

The Association of Natural Resources and Extension Professionals is a national organization for Cooperative Extension Service professionals working in environmental education, fisheries, forestry, wood sciences, range, recreation, waste management, water, wildlife, energy and related disciplines.
