Animal Science Quizbowl Study Guide

Animal Science Quizbowl Contest Rules:

• Team Format: Teams will consist of 4 members. All ages will compete together in a mixed-division format.
• Competition Style: Buzzer-style, multiple-choice question format.
• Number of Questions: 30 question about all 4-H Animal Science Species.
• Timing: Teams will have 2 minutes to answer each question.
• Scoring: Correct answers earn points; the team with the highest score wins.
• Prizes: Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams.
• Tiebreakers: In the event of a tie, additional questions will be used until a winner is determined.
• Judging: A panel of judges will read questions and verify answers using approved study materials.

Tillamook County 4-H, and the Tillamook County FFA Schools established a cooperative relationship for the mutual benefit of its membership to plan and operate the Tillamook County 4-H/FFA Fair.

Foods Contest

The Food Prep Contest at the Tillamook County 4-H Fair focuses on culinary proficiency within the Foods and Nutrition project. It emphasizes kitchen efficiency, creativity, nutrition, and safety. Participants compete in themed contests, preparing dishes under strict criteria and time constraints, and judged on their cooking technique and presentation.

Presentation Contest

At the Tillamook County 4-H Fair, the Presentation Contest features demonstrations, illustrated talks, public speeches, and impromptu speeches. Participants showcase skills ranging from procedural demonstrations to no-aid speeches, with each entry followed by a judge’s interview. The contest encourages effective communication and audience engagement.

Types of Presentation

• Demonstration – a presentation that shows how to do something. There is a finished project at the end.
• Public Speaking – an information or persuasive presentation with no visual aids.
• Illustrated Talk – a presentation that shares information on a specific topic with the use of visual aids.
• Impromptu – a presentation that is composed and delivered with no prior preparation. Topics are chosen at the contest.

We thank everyone who supports the Tillamook County 4-H Program. The Tillamook County 4-H Association is our non-profit partner and has for many years fundraised for County Fair Awards. Annually they raise over $4,000 each year for 4-H County Fair Awards!\

Camping

Camping at the Tillamook County Fair, will be managed in partnership with OSU Extension - Tillamook County 4-H and the Tillamook County Fairgrounds. Starting this year, all RV campsite will be purchased through Idealogic. 4-H/FFA Families will only be able to purchase 1 camp site within the first week of their opening. You will select and purchase your Camping Site all in one transaction. You will then pick up your Camping Pass from the Tillamook County Fairgrounds.

Parking

Barn Parking for 4-H & FFA Families can be purchased through the Idealogic site as well. There will be a limited number of parking passes. And a limit of one per family when buying Barn parking for the first week.

Season Admission Passes

4-H and FFA Families will be able to purchase season pass wristbands (like the exhibitors receive) from the Idealogic site with their Parking and Camping. This will allow families to enter and exit the South Gate easier and earlier in the morning. We ask that you only purchase wristbands for immediate family.

Do not attempt to purchase these items through the Tillamook County Fairgrounds. You can only purchase one Parking Pass until July 17.
