I have a utility pole in my yard that I would like to disguise with an ornamental tree. I can't have a tree that grows too tall and was thinking about a dogwood. What would you recommend?

Powerline friendly trees can be found in this great OSU Extension publication: Selecting, Planting, and Caring for a New Tree. Page 9 has a chart of trees that will do well under utility lines.

Here are some recommendations that have a mature height of under 30 feet:

  • Kousa Dogwood
  • Goldenraintree
  • Amur Maple
  • Glorybower
  • Japanese Maple Tree
  • Lilac
  • Mt. Fuji Cherry
  • Vine Maple
