Expertise: Soil

Biography

My extension and research program focuses field crop agronomy and soil/nutrient/water management of high value irrigated crops (including potato, wheat, field corn, alfalfa, grass seed, peppermint and other crops) grown in the in north-central and north-eastern Oregon (particularly, Morrow and Umatilla Counties) and as appropriate, south-central Washington. I am also interested in working with state regulatory agencies and local industry to develop environmentally sustainable and crop-effective strategies for dealing with reuse water and other by-products from local processing plants and beyond. Collaborating with HAREC colleagues, regional extension faculty, and faculty at other research stations and main campus, I am actively identifying, making recommendations for and finding solutions to important regional crop production questions to enhance production and profitability while increasing protection of soil, water and air quality.
