The Extension Collaboration on Immunization Teaching and Engagement (EXCITE) partnership's long-term goal is to strengthen immunization education — with a focus on adult vaccination hesitancy around both COVID-19 and other vaccines.
The Extension Collaboration on Immunization Teaching and Engagement (EXCITE) national partnership includes over 70 Land Grant Universities with the ultimate goal of increasing immunizations/vaccinations for adults. View more information about the EXCITE national effort here.
The Oregon State University Extension team received an initial EXCITE grant to promote COVID-19 Vaccinations among hard-to-reach populations, with an additional grant to expand Oregon's adult immunization efforts. Outreach efforts include:
- Door-to-door canvassing
- Vaccination clinics
- Volunteer training/recruitment
- Video production
- Media and social media campaigns
- Community conversations
The Oregon Excite project team includes faculty and staff with the Extension Family & Community Health (FCH) program (affiliated with the College of Public Health & Human Sciences), Extension 4-H Youth Development program, and Juntos.
