Growing Oregon Gardeners: Level Up Series
This wildly popular and free, monthly webinar series is for gardeners seeking to level up their gardening knowledge.
The classes in 2024 are all centered around growing food. From growing food for donation to food banks, to dealing with garden pests, to dormant season care for fruit trees, this years classes are packed with experts and helpful information.
A team of experts behind the scenes answers questions during the webinar as well.
“This was a very informative, useful, and helpful presentation! It certainly helped me understand how contaminants get into compost and what those contaminants are likely to be, and therefore what signs to look for when plants are not doing so well. Super awesome!”
“Just the right amount of lecture and questions. I really appreciated that so many questions were answered in the Q&A box, as well as by the speaker.”
The Culture of Gardening
Gardening connects us in many ways: to where we’ve been and to who are are. To grow a plant that is inherent to our identity is a joyful and self affirming art, whether it’s a food to eat or a flower to use in tradition and celebration.
At The Culture of Gardening we are advocating for and collecting the stories of people all around us, past and present, who do just that: the voices of gardeners growing plants to connect with their heritage, culture and identity. Read the growing collection of stories and events at The Culture of Gardening.
Visit a learning or demonstration garden
There are over 50 gardens across Oregon designed to show you what plants grow well in your area, and to demonstrate sustainable gardening techniques. These are OSU Extension Master Gardener Demonstration Gardens and they're great places to visit, get ideas, see new kinds of plants and plant combinations, and learn about things like pollinator gardens, water wise gardening, how to espalier fruit trees, etc. Master Gardeners work in these gardens both to learn and to educate. These are realistic gardens in realistic settings.
Find a Master Gardener Association plant sale near you
Local community partners grow and organize plant sales in many areas of the state where there is an active Master Gardener program. These plant sales often include workshops to learn new gardening techniques, and opportunities to ask Master Gardener volunteers questions.
