YQCA: Youth for the Quality Care of Animals

YQCA - Youth for the Quality Care of Animals

  • All 4-H youth who are showing and exhibiting animals at the Washington County 4-H Fair and Oregon State 4-H Fair fair are required to obtain a YQCA certification.
  • YQCA Certificates must be submitted with fair entry forms. Fair entry forms will not be accepted without a YQCA certificate.
  • YQCA Certificates are valid for three years.
  • Exceptions:
    • Cloverbud 4-H members and
    • 4-H members only showing exotic pets or cats in the Companion Pet Interviews do not need to the take the YQCA Training
  • 4-H Youth may take the in-person training or online through YQCA.
  • A coupon voucher code will be provided to cover the $3 cost of the in-person training.

Sign-Up for the YQCA Certification Course

YQCA is designed as an annual education and certification program focused on food safety, animal well-being and character awareness for youth ages 8 to 21 producing and/or showing pigs, beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits, and poultry.

Washington County 4-H is offering in-person training opportunities.

  • Saturday, Feb 21st @ 4 pm
    • Banks Public Library, hosted by 4-H Banks Barn Busters
  • Thursday, April 2nd @ 6pm
    • Forest Grove Grange Hall, hosted by 4-H Scuttlebuns
  • Wednesday, April 22nd @ 6:30 pm
    • OSU Extension office
  • Monday, May 4th @ 6:30 pm
    • Farm location, hosted by Banks Barn Busters

  • Register for the training through the YQCA program; go to the YQCA website to register.
    • Parents must create an account.
  • Apply the coupon code
  • Take the pre-test
  • Attend the training
  • Take the post-test
