Science & Technology

The 4-H Science, Technology and Engineering projects provide a wide variety of opportunities for youth to learn about and become involved with science and engineering. The LEGO Robotics project and Grand SUMO competition, and the new Engineering Design Process State Fair entry are excellent opportunities for youth who want to learn about design, programming, and engineering.

Fair Book - Engineering (Electricity & Engineering Design) (in English)

Open to all 4-H members regardless of project enrollment. The display must include two parts: (1) and engineering notebook that details all seven of the components listed below AND (2) an educational poster. Posters are limited in size to 30” by 24”. Print the Engineering Display Component Check-off Sheet to complete and include as the first page of the engineering notebook. The Check-off sheet is available on the state 4-H web site for State Fair at the STEM and Industrial Arts Exhibit information page.

You may enter ATV, automotive, bicycles, handyman, small engines, snowmobile, etc., projects in the Educational Display classes found in the Communication Section of the fair book.

Fair Book - Science (in English)

Open to all 4-H members regardless of project enrollment. The exhibit may be a poster or a three-dimensional display. Individual three-dimensional exhibits are limited in size to 48” wide (measured when lying flat), 24” deep (front to back), and 36” high. Club exhibits are limited in size to 60” wide, 24” deep and 36” high. Posters are limited in size to 30” by 24”.

Fair Book - Technology (in English)

Each exhibit piece must be labeled with the member’s name, county and class number.If more than one article is contained in the exhibiteach article must be labeled with the member’s name, county and class number. This may be done with masking tape, attaching an index card, or writing directly on the back with a marker.All the articles that comprise the exhibit must be attached to each other.The one exception to this is the Rocketry Engineering Journal, which must be included with the Rocket display, but is not required to be attached to it.
