Orchard Crops Faculty Research Asst
Aaron Heinrich is a native Oregonian, who grew up in Salem and attended OSU as an undergraduate. While working towards an M.S. in Soils and Biogeochemistry from the University of California Davis, he fell in love with agriculture. After graduate school, he took a position with UC Cooperative Extension in Salinas, California working with issues surrounding vegetable production. In 2012 he took a position in OSU’s Department of Horticulture continuing to work with vegetable crop. Although he is a crop production generalist, his specialty is nutrient management. In 2017, he left the vegetable world and joined Nik Wiman’s orchard crops team where he will be helping Nik with his research and Extension program, primarily with hazelnuts. He is excited that he will be helping to help establish a hard cider apple research orchard because he and his wife are looking to establish their own orchard serving Oregon’s fast growing hard cider industry.
