Biography
Belisario Nigenda Pérez is the Youth Innovators Empowering Agriculture Across America (YEA) – Coordination Network (CN) Program Manager. Mr. Nigenda Pérez is a Higher Education professional with more than 15 years of experience working and managing Federal Education Grants (TRIO/Title IV) focused on serving first-generation, low-income, and/or disabled students in Higher Education. During this time, he secured more than $7.5 million to serve first-generation, low-income, and/or disabled students in Higher Education in Puerto Rico and Oregon.
Belisario was born and raised in the southern state of Chiapas, México. He earned a B.A. in Business Administration from Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas in México and was a first-generation and low-income student when he attended college. He has a M.A. in Communication from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico.
Belisario’s work focuses on equity, inclusion, diversity, belonging, and social and economic justice for marginalized and underrepresented communities.
