Biography
Robert Orpet is an applied entomologist in Southern Oregon focused on issues of pears, grapes, and other locally relevant crops. The laboratory in Central Point integrates research with extension to develop and evaluate strategies to manage pests while conserving beneficial species. The objective is to have holistic and sustainable management programs that improve our economic, environmental, and social conditions. As such, projects are often conducted on commercial farms with cooperating community members, and other methods from other disciplines like social science may get combined with entomology.
