Biography
Sarah grew up in central Oregon among the high desert landscapes, and has spent much of her career in outdoor education all across the west. She earned a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Oregon, and her M.S. in Education with an English Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) concentration from Eastern Oregon University. Here she participated in research aimed at understanding the benefits of experiential learning at outdoor school for English Language Learners. In addition to her experiential educational background, Sarah has held various roles in community organizing and advocacy for the land, water, wildlife and people of eastern Oregon. As a lifelong Oregonian, Sarah attended outdoor school as a sixth grader and is passionate about making outdoor school and outdoor experiences more inclusive and accessible to all of Oregon's youth. In her free time, Sarah enjoys exploring remote parts of eastern Oregon's high deserts and forests with her family.
