Biography

Collins Bugingo is a versatile plant pathologist and environmental microbiologist with expertise in field and specialty crop production, plant pathology, and produce safety. As the Field Crops Specialist for the Mid-Willamette Valley, covering Marion and Clackamas counties, Collins brings extensive expertise in applied research, scientific communication, and project management. He holds a Ph.D. in Plant Science and Plant Pathology from Montana State University and a Master's degree in Plant Science and Pathology from South Dakota State University.

His research previously focused on managing plant diseases, including seedborne Fusarium in lentils and evaluating biopesticides. Additionally, Collins has developed and delivered produce safety training programs, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to enhance food safety practices. His extension work includes tailored outreach to a myriad of growers. Passionate about advancing food security, environmental equity, and sustainability, Collins is committed to creating practical and impactful solutions through his work.
