Across Oregon, gardeners are seeing the seasons shift—hotter summers, wetter winters, unpredictable frosts. Together, we can adapt.Garden Future connects gardeners to share what’s working, learn from each other, and grow resilience in a changing climate.
Take our 3-question survey to tell us:
- What changes you’ve noticed in your garden.
- What changes you’ve made.
- What you’d like help learning.
Your answers shape statewide resources and connect you with other gardeners’ solutions. Share your garden story!
Garden Future is growing resilience in a changing climate
Garden Future is a statewide project of the OSU Extension Master Gardener Program. We’re gathering stories, ideas, and local wisdom from gardeners like you—and sharing them back as practical tips, inspiring examples, and resources to help your garden thrive, no matter the weather.
By joining the conversation, you’ll:
- Discover how other gardeners across Oregon are adapting to change.
- Learn proven practices for gardening in extreme weather.
- Help shape future resources for your community.
After answering the survey, you'll be invited to sign up to receive our Garden Future e-mails. There, we'll be sharing back what we are learning and hearing.
What we know (and what we're learning together)
Climate change is already affecting our gardens. We know some things for certain—like the importance of water-wise planting, soil health, and adapting to new pests and weather patterns. But there’s a lot we don’t know, and that’s where you come in.
Your answers to our three questions will help build a statewide picture of how climate change is showing up in gardens—and guide us in creating resources you can use.
Why this matters
Research shows that personal, local stories inspire action far more than data alone. Gardeners notice the changes happening around us—and by sharing what we’re seeing, we can all find better ways to adapt.
“Plants are just dying,” shared a gardener in Jackson County. “So I’ve added mulch.” Small changes like these are making a difference all over Oregon.
When you share your story, you help:
- Create a real-time picture of how climate change is affecting Oregon gardens.
- Inspire others with proven, practical solutions.
- Guide OSU Extension in developing the resources you need most.
