How do I enroll?
Enrollment runs from October 1 to January 15 for returning 4-H members, and October 1 to April 30 for new 4-H members. Please follow these steps to get your child enrolled.
- Reach out to us to find a club. Please email [email protected] and [email protected] with your child’s name, age, and project interests. We can help you find a club and guide you through the enrollment process.
- Enroll in 4-HOnline. Go to v2.4honline.com. Make an account if it’s your first time, or log into an existing account. Follow all prompts on the webpage - do not skip the Health Forms or Consents. On the last screen, where it says “Make a Payment”, select “Pay by Check”. Then click "Next" and "Submit". For assistance, contact our office or read our enrollment guide: beav.es/xsN
- Pay enrollment fees. 2025-2026 enrollment fees are $30 per child and a maximum of $60 per family until January 31. After January 31, there is a late fee. Pay online (beav.es/xsc) or drop off cash/check to 2990 Experiment Station Drive, M-Th 9-4. Need financial assistance? Contact Grace Wesson at [email protected] for information ASAP.
Volunteer enrollment
- Volunteers are required to re-enroll as a volunteer in 4-HOnline every year before starting club activities. When you complete your enrollment, make sure to do the "OSU Youth Safety Training" in 4-HOnline.
How do I volunteer?
Step 1: Apply.
Submit your application using one of the following methods:
- Complete the online application form, or
- Deliver a paper application to the Extension office (2990 Experiment Station Drive), or
- Email a PDF of your completed application to [email protected]
Step 2: Interview
- We will have a brief phone or in-person interview to get to know you. Then, we will contact the references listed on your application.
Step 3: Enroll in 4-HOnline.
- Go to v2.4honline.com.
- Make an account if it’s your first time, or log into an existing account.
- Follow all prompts on the webpage.
- When you complete your enrollment, make sure to do the "OSU Youth Safety Training" in 4-HOnline.
- Volunteers are required to re-enroll in 4-HOnline every year before starting club activities.
Step 4: Background Check/Criminal History Check
- A background check is required when you apply and every two years afterwards.
- Instructions will be sent to your email.
- There is an extra background check step for applicants who have lived outside Oregon at some point during the past seven years.
Step 5: Training
- Volunteers are required to complete:
- A virtual statewide orientation session (1.5 hours)
- A local volunteer training session (1.5 hours)
Step 6: Welcome!!!
- Once volunteers have finished this onboarding process, they are required to re-enroll in 4-HOnline and complete the 4-HOnline Youth Safety Training every year.
- Volunteers must also complete a Criminal History Check/Background Check every two years.
How do I start a 4-H club?
Step 1: Complete our volunteer onboarding process.
Step 2: Find a second registered 4-H volunteer to run your club with you.
Step 3: Complete a club charter and turn it in to county faculty ([email protected]).
Step 4: Recruit 4-H members for your club.
- Clubs should engage at least five youth from three or more families.
- The club must not discriminate and will welcome any youth who is interested in learning in 4-H.
Step 5: Plan out your club's schedule for the year.
- Clubs usually meet monthly during the school year, and more frequently during the summer.
Step 6: Communicate with county faculty and families in your club.
- Check your email for communications from county faculty.
- Attend monthly 4-H leader meetings to stay up to date.
- Find a communication method that works for the families in your club. Common methods are email, the SportsYou app, the TeamReach app, and the Band app.
Step 7: Start holding club meetings.
- Two registered 4-H volunteers must be at every official club meeting to meet supervision guidelines.
- An effective club meeting includes an activity that builds belonging, opportunity for youth voice, project work, and fair preparation.
