Biography

Lucas Nebert specializes in managing plant-associated bacteria and fungi in vegetable and field crops to enhance disease resistance and increase tolerance to stress caused by drought and extreme temperatures. He works with the Dry Farming Collaborative to improve the viability of dry farming systems in the Pacific Northwest, through variety selection and breeding for drought tolerant crops, and developing microbial inoculants to increase stress tolerance. Lucas developed his expertise in plant and soil microbial ecology research with a MS. in Soil Quality at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and a PhD in Evironmental Science, Studies and Policy at University of Oregon. He works with Moondogs Farm, which produces organic-certified seeds and vegetables near Marcola, OR.
