Prescribed fire

Prescribed fire, or also referred to as controlled burn, is an important tool used for a wide range of purposes including fuels reduction, pasture and timber management, and ecosystem health. Practitioners use their understanding of fire behavior and fire ecology to plan burns that will meet specific objectives.

The Extension Fire Program team understands the importance of using prescribed fire as a tool in our manager's toolbox. We assist in providing education, training, and experience in the safe and effective use of prescribed fire.
