LEAF study

The Landowner Experience After Fire (LEAF) Study was a statewide survey conducted between 2023 and 2024 among private, non-industrial forest landowners who had experienced wildfire on their wooded properties within the prior 10 years. The purpose of the study was to determine impacts to landowners from wildfire, challenges they faced to completing restoration work in their forests, and opportunities they found to help them in the process. Over 200 landowners from across the state completed the survey, with a large majority being landowners who were impacted by one of the many 2020 Labor Day fires.
