The BBB New Instructor Workshop is delivered by a team of OSU researchers and BBB Master Trainers. Learn the latest research and information about exercise programming to promote skeletal health, reduce the risk for falls, and support adults to improve their overall health and well-being.
2024 Instructor Certification Training
We are excited to host the 2024 Better Bones & Balance® New Instructor Training this summer! This hybrid training aims to teach participants the topics of skeletal development, falls & fractures, age-related balance changes, and more. Lecture materials will be completed online at your own pace, then all participants will come together in-person for one day of practical training sessions.

- Registration fee: $375.00
- BBB Licensing fee: $80.00
Who Can Attend?
- Anyone with a passion for fitness and health, an outgoing personality, and a dedication to teaching others is welcome to become a BBB instructor. Some prior knowledge of fitness and/or exercise leadership or experience as a group fitness leader and/or participant is recommended, but not required.
First Aid & CPR Certification
- This year, we are requiring that individuals participating in the instructor training MUST be certified in Adult First Aid and CPR prior to attending the training. You may complete this online; however, we highly encourage you to take an in-person class prior to teaching. Participants must show proof of certification before the in-person training date by emailing us verification of your certificate. If you have any questions about this requirement, please reach out to us.

2023 Instructor Certification Training Highlights
The 2023 New Instructor Training was held on August 26, 2023 at Linn-Benton Community College's Benton Center in Corvallis, Oregon. We were able to train 28 new instructors with the help of our wonderful Master Trainers and BBB team, making this the second largest cohort of new instructors since formal certification began in 2010.
