New Instructors
The BBB New Instructor Workshop is delivered by a team of OSU researchers and BBB Master Trainers. Learn the latest research and information about exercise programming to promote skeletal health, reduce the risk for falls, and support adults to improve their overall health and well-being.
2025 Instructor Certification Training
Dates for the 2025 Better Bones & Balance® New Instructor Training are to be determined. Historically, the training takes place once a year in August or September in Corvallis, Oregon. This hybrid training aims to teach participants the topics of skeletal development, falls & fractures, age-related balance changes, and more. Lecture materials will be completed online at your own pace, then all participants will come together in-person for one day of practical training sessions.
Who Can Attend?
- Anyone with a passion for fitness and health, an outgoing personality, and a dedication to teaching others is welcome to become a BBB instructor. Some prior knowledge of fitness and/or exercise leadership or experience as a group fitness leader and/or participant is recommended, but not required.

- Below are the fees for the 2024 New Instructor Training. Fees are subject to change each year.
- Registration fee: $375.00
- BBB Licensing fee: $80.00
First Aid & CPR Certification
- In 2024, we required that individuals participating in the instructor training MUST be certified in Adult First Aid and CPR prior to attending the training. The First Aid & CPR class could be completed online or in-person prior to teaching. Requirements are subject to change each year. 2024 Instructor Certification Training Highlights
The 2024 New Instructor Training was held on August 24, 2024, at Linn-Benton Community College's Benton Center in Corvallis, Oregon. We were able to train 14 new instructors with the help of our wonderful Master Trainers and BBB team! Additional information from the 2024 Training can be found below.
