Scott Thiemann has been Master Gardener Coordinator as an Educational Program Assistant in Curry County since 2014. He graduated from OSU in 1978 with a degree in Elementary Education. He draws much of his passion for working with plants--and people--from three years of experience at a Seattle nursery before working as an independent contractor in ornamental landscaping and landscape maintenance mostly in Portland before working in Curry County. He also worked in environmental education as a resource specialist for several years as well as teaching for several years in the classroom. Other areas of interest include hiking and travel...it's always interesting to see what is growing elsewhere!

Q: My asparagus is now at the end of the second year. I picked a few and it has been going wild ever since. My question is what do i do with it? Just let it die back on its own, or do I cut at ground level for winter? I am on the southern coast in Langlois.
