Clackamas County 4-H Dog Leaders Committee

Leaders, parents and youth members who have an interest in the Clackamas County 4-H Dog project are encouraged to attend monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month (except August, September, and December) at the Extension Office in Oregon City at 7:00 pm.

This committee is responsible for planning and implementing educational opportunities and events, fundraising for awards and scholarships, and managing 4-H Dog Fair for the Dog project members in Clackamas County.

Dog Pre-Fair - TBD 2025

Clackamas County 4-H Dog youth practice Showmanship, Obedience and Rally Contests to hone their skills and prepare for the County Dog Fair in July. Youth MUST participate in Pre-Fair to be eligible to participate in Dog Fair.

Dog Fair: July 12, 2025

Clackamas County 4-H Dog Fair includes Showmanship, Obedience, and Rally Contests for 4-H youth members, ages 9 - 18 years old. Intermediate and Senior youth participants who earn a blue ribbon can qualify for Oregon State 4-H Dog Fair.

2024 Prepare For Fair Handbook: This handbook is your go-to resource for being ready for Fair. It will guide you from entries to summer preparation to Fair week.
Dog Fair Book 2024: 2024 Dog 4-H Fair book of classes and contests
Dog State Fair Application: Youth who are interested in participating in State Fair must fill out this form and submit it at Clackamas County Dog 4-H Fair in July.
Junior Superintendent Application: Fill out this form to apply. Applications were due by April 1.
Junior Superintendent Position Description: Read this before applying! Junior Superintendents are a valuable part of our fair management team. They have duties to perform before, during, and after fair.

4-H Dog Project Manual: This is the dog resource manual. It was authored in partnership by Florida 4-H and AKC. It is available at no charge.

Begin Training Your Dog with Delanie (Video): First of a three video series on beginning training by Delanie. This is intended for first year and Junior members starting in Dog 4-H (3.24 minutes)
Dog Agility Rules: Additional information on dog safety and rules.
Dog Lease Record: Required for any member who leases a dog to use as their project animal. Due to the 4-H office April 1st to be given to the Clackamas County 4-H Dog Advisory Committee for approval.
Dog Obedience, Showmanship and Contest Guide: Obedience and showmanship contests provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate how well you've trained your dog and how you and your dog work as a team.

2023 Dog Judging Workshop: Youth learn and practice their judging skills at this people-only event (please keep your dogs at home). This year we will be working on: • Group Judging of a 4-H Obedience class. • Dog 4-H Knowledge and Skills • Oral Reasons Pre-registration is required

Dog Clinic

Educational event held every May for youth and their animal to learn and practice working together on showmanship, obedience and rally.
