Grapevine virus testing labs

Patricia A. Skinkis
March 2022

Grapevine viruses can limit vineyard productivity through yield and/or fruit and wine quality. Growers are advised to test grapevines for viruses if vine health concerns arise and/or if they plan to use bud wood for propagation or grafting-over.

Below is a list of virus testing labs located on the West Coast. These labs are listed in alphabetical order and may not include all possible testing labs available currently. Inquire with the lab to obtain protocols for sampling protocols and shipping guidelines.
