CORVALLIS, Ore. – Kristopher Elliott has been named associate director for the Oregon State University Extension Service.
Elliott has served as the director of OSU Extension's statewide Outdoor School Program since 2017. As associate director, Elliott will have administrative responsibility for OSU Extension operations, including strategic planning, budget, staffing, and rules and procedures. He will provide collaborative leadership support of stakeholder engagement, legislative planning and process, county and local operations and our commitments to advance equity and inclusion in all aspects of Extension operations.
Under Elliott's leadership, the Outdoor School Program has impacted over 40,000 students annually, secured over $115 million in state funding, forged strong partnerships among OSU Extension, outdoor school providers, schools and non-profit groups; and has become a national leader in developing and delivering more inclusive, culturally responsive programming.
Prior to joining OSU, Elliott was director of STEM for Metro Nashville Public Schools and has worked in production agriculture, as an agricultural educator for 10 years and as an urban extension faculty member at University of Georgia. He has been a high school agriculture teacher and advisor to FFA chapters.
Elliott earned a doctorate in science education, with a minor in agricultural education, from OSU in 2014. He holds both a bachelor's and master's degree from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
