Jennifer Alexander has served as director of Extension Communications (formerly Extension and Experiment Station Communications) since 2016. Jennifer joined Oregon State University and Extension Communications in 2010, serving first as a publishing manager and then as interim director. She previously worked as a technical editor for Kansas State University Research and Extension and in research communications for Pioneer Hi-Bred in Iowa. Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in horticulture and journalism and mass communications and a master's degree in agricultural education, both from Iowa State University. Jennifer is active with the Association for Communication Excellence, serving as president in 2020-21, and contributes to the national land grant impact communications team. As director, Jennifer provides leadership and management for Extension Communications, a team that supports the strategic communication needs of the statewide OSU Extension Service. The team collaborates with faculty, staff, and leadership to create educational, engaging, and brand-aligned communications. This includes educational publishing, news and media relations, issues and impact communications, marketing and branding, visual design and multimedia, and web and content strategy efforts. The team also offers advice, consultation, and training for OSU Extension faculty and staff.
