Water-wise gardening conserves water and helps protect the environment. A xeriscape is a “dry scene” that uses very little water, but a water-wise garden includes any style that is designed to conserve water.
As a result of this work, 110 applications to the program came in from August through December 2021. Sixty projects were completed with payments totaling $300,000 for replacements, repairs and reimbursements for septic and well systems.
When deciding upon which plants will be used in your garden or landscaping project it’s important to avoid selecting species that are considered invasive. This publication provides several examples of invasive plants for our area, specifically for zones 5 and 6 of the United States Department of Agriculture’s “hardiness zones” chart.
