Onion growers in Treasure Valley have faced difficulties in controlling thrips. One of the problems is resistance to commonly used insecticides. Researchers conducted tests to find the most effective insecticides.
As a result of this work, 110 applications to the program came in from August through December 2021. Sixty projects were completed with payments totaling $300,000 for replacements, repairs and reimbursements for septic and well systems.
Landowners needed help learning about reforestation and getting the resources they needed, and there was a critical need for tree seedlings to replace the trees lost to the fires, especially for private landowners who have less access to large-scale nurseries.
