Although grain crops bring in less revenue than vegetables or fruit, they can become an important part of a farming enterprise. Grains are less labor-intensive and can be grown when fields need a rest.
You can determine rental rates for pasturing cattle and sheep by using the average cost in an area and then factoring in variables such as animal size, pasture quality, work done by each party and lease length.
By selecting the right forages and using efficient management practices with limited irrigation or drought conditions, producers can achieve reasonable forage production with reduced input costs.
