Biography

John Punches is an Associate Professor in the Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management at Oregon State University. He has been with OSU since 1994 as an Extension Forester and Wood Scientist, and has served in a variety of Extension leadership roles. He holds degrees in forestry (Michigan Tech), wood science (Virginia Tech), and forest ecosystems (Oregon State). After 24 years stationed in Roseburg, he has recently transferred to La Grande where he serves as the Extension Forester for Union, Umatilla, and Wallowa Counties. In his spare time, John is a mountain climber and caver, and a search and rescue/mountain rescue instructor/volunteer.
